Adapt Around Your Home During Covid-19

We’re a few months into the Covid pandemic and even though businesses are opening back one, the way we operate will be forever changed. This is especially true when it comes to our homes! During mandatory stay at home order, it’s safe to say we all had some eye opening moments about being in our space for an extended period of time. With fall around the corner, homeschooling impending and many companies navigating towards a work from home policy, our team of experts at Organization & Relocation weighed in on how you can optimize your space for spending more time in your home.

FOR HOMESCHOOLING

Create a designated work/homework space. Don’t multipurpose it.  Invest in a large whiteboard for your home student so he/she can post and erase weekly tasks.

Gather up your supplies and make the space workable for you/or the student.  Get them involved and excited with organizing the space.

Keep a timer nearby to remind you to take breaks with work to avoid burnouts and frustration. Learning from home can be challenging if your student is used to being around other kids and out on the playground for recess! Remember to work these breaks into your routine at home too.

AROUND YOUR HOME

Now that we are Safer at Home during this time, why not be HAPPIER too?

Now is the time to go through your possessions alone or with our team to refresh your safe space. Here's a tip to get started! Take one piece of furniture in your bedroom, your dresser! Take out EVERYTHING and sort them. What are you done with? What do you want to keep? What do you want room for? Then move on to another area.

What to do with all your pictures? Start now and make your memory books for this Holiday!

Are pictures in drawers, cabinets, shelves everywhere? Not a problem, let's deal with them!

A few tips: Gather all your pictures in one place. Go through each album or picture and throw out the ones you no longer need. Next, sort by either year or decade, don't be too detailed because you want to finish. Put some pictures aside for Holiday Gift Books. Hey, let our Org & Relo experts help! You'll be so glad to have extra hands, let's start now!

Lounging more? Make more space in the living room!

Living rooms tend to become incredibly messy, especially in family homes. Give every family member a basket or bin for their belongings.

Also remove objects from the living room that don’t belong! If you have a lot of meaningful objects and things are starting to look un-styled or cluttered, try rotating these items to reduce the cluttered look!
